The refurbished Dell 1950 1U Server 3.5" hard drive bays generation 1 is in good, clean condition and was recently pulled from a climate controlled facility. The exterior of the server is in good condition but it has some scuffs and scratches consistent with cabinet mounting, server stacking and normal use. At SaveMyServer we stand behind our refurbished servers. For our testing process we follow the same routine that we use to load our production servers. We set up the bios, configure the controllers, build an array, update the drivers and firmware, install the operating system and run diagnostics. That's right, we perform a clean install on each server. For most servers, we load a clean install of Windows 2008 Server evaluation edition. We also perform the Dell OpenManage PowerEdge updates, bringing the components like the system bios, PERC RAID, network interface and other Dell drivers up to their latest version. We can spend hours refurbishing a server. We don't use ghost images because they are unreliable across different configurations and third party components. When a server goes out our door, we know that it is ready for a production environment. The server usually ships in 1 to 3 business days.

Very happy I found SaveMyServer.com when I was looking for a low cost server to get my feet wet. I just wanted something I could throw VMWare on and then create a virtual lab environment to get myself more accustomed to VMware and the latest Microsoft server tech.
I should have remembered from my brief days as a systems admin, but when the box arrived I was shocked and worried whether I'd have somewhere to even put the server! Thankfully the box was a bit bigger the server itself and there was a healthy amount of foam covering the corners of the server so it was padded for travel.
After setting everything up, I was horrified when I turned the server on. It sounded like a 747 was taking off in my den. My wife came running to see what the noise was! Thankfully, it must have just been warm from being inside that box - it's been running for over a week now and I haven't heard it get that loud since.
Everything on the server works as expected, hardware is all in good condition. The only (small) issue I've had is that while it does look like there's a DVDrom installed in the bay, the server's BIOS recognizes it as an IDE CDRom. The kicker is that it doesn't appear to want to either - wouldn't recognize DVDs or CDs! Burned a few copies of each and then it finally "took" and recognized the VMWare on the CD. Small issue, though, now it's up and running and it's been smooth sailing since.
Did realize the hard way that this isn't necessarily a suitable server to throw on a desk in your den and let it run... unless you want your den to be the warmest room in the house haha. Next up is a dedicated server rack down in the basement - oh darn, more goodies to be ordered! :)
Thanks SaveMyServer.com! I've been telling all my IT buddies about your site and they all were impressed with the prices too.
